Tandem Hang Gliding on Lake Como

The purest way to fly — a silent wing, a few running steps, and the whole northern lake below you.

Paragliding is popular on Lake Como, but hang gliding is the rarer, more spectacular experience: you lie prone inside a rigid wing, level with the pilot, and fly like a bird of prey over the Alto Lario. Takeoff is from Monte Berlinghera above Gera Lario (about 1,200 m), with the Pian di Spagna nature reserve, the Lago di Mezzola and the northern arm of Lake Como spread out underneath. Flights last 15 to 30 minutes depending on the thermals, the whole activity about 2 hours. You pay the operator on the day; we arrange pilot, date and logistics on WhatsApp.

How it works

Tell us your date, your weight and how many of you are flying. Flying is strictly weather-dependent, so the pilot confirms feasibility 1–2 days before and again the evening prior. You meet at the landing area near Gera Lario / Nuova Olonio di Dubino, a shuttle takes you up to the takeoff on Monte Berlinghera, you get a short briefing, a few running steps — and you're airborne. You pay the operator directly on the day.

What's included — and what to bring

The price includes the certified tandem pilot, harness and helmet, insurance, and the shuttle from the landing field up to takeoff and back. Bring closed trekking or gym shoes, a windproof jacket and sunglasses. Requirements: maximum weight about 90 kg, maximum height 195 cm, minimum age 12 (minors need written consent from both parents), good general health and the ability to do a short run of a few steps at takeoff.

Who it's worth it for — and who should skip it

Worth it for anyone who wants something more intense and uncommon than paragliding — the prone position and the rigid wing make it feel like real flight. It's also an unforgettable gift. Skip it if you have heart conditions, are pregnant, or if your schedule is completely rigid: hang gliding depends on wind more than any other activity on the lake, and a postponement is always possible.
