The wind, honestly explained
Lake Como has two named winds and they run the day. The Tivano blows from the north in the morning — cooler, steadier, ideal for a calm start. The Breva arrives from the south in the afternoon, and in summer it's remarkably consistent: this is the wind sailors wait for, and why most Bellagio departures leave after lunch. A half-day sail timed for the Breva gives you genuine sailing, not motor-sailing.
Where you'll sail
From Bellagio the central basin opens up immediately: Varenna and the castle of Vezio to the east, Menaggio and Bellano's shoreline to the west and north, and the long view down the Como branch to the south. On a three-hour sail you typically cross toward Varenna and back along the opposite shore; longer outings reach further up the northern basin, where the mountains close in and the wind funnels.
What's included — and what's not
The price covers the boat exclusively for your group, the skipper, fuel, and insurance. Not included: food and drinks (bring your own — most skippers are happy for you to picnic aboard), and any mooring or lunch stops ashore. Learning vs relaxing
