Cooking Class in Como Town

Shop the covered market with the chef, then cook what you bought in a city home a few streets away.

Como's version of the cooking class has an extra act that the lake villages can't offer: the market. Many classes here start at the covered market on the edge of the old town, where you pick the day's fish, vegetables, and cheese with the chef before walking back to a home kitchen in the city to cook. The menu follows the same lake tradition — fresh pasta, risotto al pesce persico, tiramisù — but the shopping half makes it a genuinely different experience. Prices run €130–380 per person, paid to the host on the day.

The market difference

Como's covered market, just outside the old town walls, is where the city actually shops — fish counters with lake catch, cheese stalls, seasonal vegetables. Classes that include it start with a walk through the stalls: the chef explains what's in season, you choose the fish for the risotto together, and you carry everything back to the kitchen. It adds about an hour and turns the class into a half-day food experience rather than just a lesson.

What you'll cook

The core menu mirrors the lake tradition: handmade fresh pasta, risotto al pesce persico with perch from the market's fish counters, and tiramisù. Because you shop first, menus flex with the season — artichokes in spring, porcini in autumn. If you want a specific dish, ask when booking and we'll match you with a chef who'll build around it.

Como vs Bellagio for a cooking class

Bellagio gives you the village atmosphere — old houses, terraces, the lake outside the window. Como gives you the market and the city rhythm, plus easier logistics: classes are walkable from the train stations and ferry dock, so it fits a day trip from Milan without any extra transport. Both are excellent; the deciding factor is usually where you're already staying.

How booking works

Message us on WhatsApp with your dates, group size, and whether you want the market version. We confirm with a vetted local chef, send you the meeting point — usually the market entrance or a square in the old town — and you pay the host directly on the day. Never any prepayment.

Timing

Market classes run in the morning because the market closes early afternoon — typically 9:30 or 10 am starts, ending with lunch around 1:30 pm. Classes without the market also run late afternoon into dinner. Season is April to October for the full experience, though city classes can sometimes run year-round.
